TAHLEQUAH, OK - The Cherokee Nation recently contributed $15,000
to the Tahlequah area Habitat for Humanity.
According to Linda Cheatham, Habitat for Humanity president, the funds will be used to help build a house that is currently under construction. “We are so glad to work in partnership with Cherokee Nation to provide decent affordable housing to Habitat families in Cherokee County and accept this donation with honor,” said Cheatham. “The money will be used to install the utilities in Tahlequah Habitat house #15 which will be completed in May of 2009.” Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit housing ministry. The organization seeks to eliminate poverty housing and homelessness from the world, and to make decent shelter a matter of conscience and action. Habitat invites people of all backgrounds, races and religions to build houses together in partnership with families in need. |
