TULSA, OK - The Cherokee Nation will host the Steps to a Healthier
Nation Conference on Tuesday, April 8 through Thursday, April 10,
at the Radisson Hotel, located at 10918 East 41st Street in Tulsa.
The purpose of the conference is to bring together governmental representatives and elected officials, healthcare providers, health system staff, businesses, teachers, school administrators, school board members, parents, community advocates and others interested in setting a course for policy change for a healthier future. The conference will utilize nationally renowned experts to assist all attendees in identifying their role and how they can contribute to the improved health of the entire community. The keynote address will be presented by Mark Fenton, the host of the PBS series “America’s Walking.” Prevention Institute trainers will also be available to provide participants with the tools necessary to improve health in their communities. Information will be presented in a variety of topics including: tobacco use issues, healthy schools, farmers’ markets, farm to school, community planning, healthy worksites and poor nutrition issues. The event is free to the public. Everyone is welcome to attend.
