PARK HILL, Oklahoma – Join the Cherokee Heritage Center for a fun day of
learning technique and various styles of finger weaving used by Cherokee
people for centuries. A traditional finger weaving class will be
offered by the Cherokee Heritage Center on Saturday, April 12, from 10
a.m. to 3 p.m.
Wade Blevins, of Jay, Oklahoma, a skilled artisan with experience in making various finger weaving patterns and pieces, will instruct the class. Participants will learn the history of finger weaving while creating their own project. The course is part of a series of hands-on cultural classes offered by the Cherokee Heritage Center and sponsored in part by the Oklahoma Arts Council. Additional classes planned for spring 2008 include flint knapping and wood carving. Contact the Cherokee Heritage Center for the complete schedule. Early registration for the finger weaving class is recommended as class size is limited. The $40 fee includes tuition and materials.
