TAHLEQUAH, OK - Encouraging health and well-being among its citizens,
the Cherokee Nation will host a Healthy Nation Camp on Friday, October
12 through Sunday, October 14, at Camp Heart O’ Hills in Welling. The
camp will begin at 4 p.m. on Friday and run through the afternoon hours
on Sunday.
“The Cherokee Nation is proud to offer services to its citizens that promote a healthy lifestyle,” said Chad Smith, Principal Chief of the Cherokee Nation. “These camps are a lot of fun for the whole family.” The camp is free of charge. At least one member per family unit must be a citizen of the Cherokee Nation. All ages are welcome and all meals are provided. Participants need to bring twin size bedding, including sheets, blankets, pillows, or sleeping bag as well as towels, wash cloths and comfortable shoes and clothes for activities. Campers will attend educational classes on nutrition, physical activity, tobacco abuse awareness, and asthma. Campers will also attend arts and craft classes. “We want families to learn to be healthy together,” said Margie Burkhart, Program Coordinator. “This is a wonderful way to enjoy some family time and have a great time learning to live fit in the process.” For more information call Burkhart, phone: 918-453-5000 (ext.5440). |
