PARK HILL, Oklahoma – The Cherokee Heritage Center is
offering a two-day class about traditional Cherokee hunting jackets
on Friday, Dec. 7, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., and Saturday, Dec. 8,
from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Tonia Weavel will instruct the class. Weavel is an experienced seamstress who has won numerous awards for her work. This class offers students the opportunity to learn the history and basic elements of making traditional Cherokee hunting jackets worn by Cherokee men in the early 1800s. The $65 registration fee is due at the time of the first class and pre-registration is recommended due to limited seating. Materials will be provided. This class is one of several hosted by the Cherokee Heritage Center, a non-profit organization devoted to the preservation and promotion of Cherokee history and culture.
