PARK HILL, OKLAHOMA - The Cherokee Heritage Center
will host the 36th Annual Trail of Tears Art Show and Sale. The
show is set to open on April 28th and will continue through May 27th.
Artists from across the country will compete for $10,000 in total prize money including a $1,500 Grand Prize award. Museum guests will be allowed to submit their vote for the “People’s Choice” Award which is highly prized among the participating artists. Categories for this year’s show include Paintings, Graphics, Sculpture, Pottery, Basketry, Miniatures and the “Trail of Tears” Theme. Some of the more popular entries are in the Miniature category. “The artists who participate in the miniature category have a wonderful way of expressing so much beauty within a four-inch cube of space," said Mickel Yantz, Cherokee Heritage Center curator. All artwork will be for sale to the public beginning with the opening at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 28th. The formal awards ceremony will begin at noon. The Trail of Tears Art Show and Sale is sponsored by the Bank of Oklahoma and the Oklahoma Tourism and Recreation Department. The Cherokee Heritage Center is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. For more information about the show, please call 918-456-6007, or call toll free: 888:999-6007, and visit CHC online. |
