"Participants in last year's Cancer Survivor Camp participate in basket weaving."
TAHLEQUAH, OKLAHOMA - October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month and the Cherokee Nation Cancer Program is celebrating once again with the 7th Annual Breast Cancer Survivors Camp, “Empowering Survivors.”

The camp will be held on Saturday, October 7, in the Cherokee Nation Community Room directly behind the Restaurant of the Cherokees and will conclude with lunch being served. Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m.

This year’s camp will allow participants to take part in basket weaving, corn husk doll making, and will include a talking circle.

“Our program helps to provide funding to eligible women for yearly breast and cervical cancer screenings,” said Kym Cravatt, director for the Cherokee Nation Cancer Programs.

The camp is open to breast cancer survivors and registration will be limited to 50 participants. To register for the camp or for more information on the Cherokee Nation Cancer Programs, call 918-458-4491 or call toll free 1-877-458-4491.
