TAHLEQUAH, OKLAHOMA – The Cherokee Nation recently presented
a check to the American Red Cross in the amount of $10,000 to be
divided among chapters in the tribe’s jurisdictional boundaries, as a
part of the Cherokee Nation’s initiative to be good partners with our
communities.
According to Principal Chief Chad Smith, making contributions to organizations that work to enhance the communities in which Cherokee citizens and Oklahomans live is important to the vitality of the tribe and to Oklahoma. “The Cherokee Nation is community-focused and community-driven,” said Smith. “The strength of the Cherokee Nation lies in our communities and it is important that we help support other organizations with the same vision and dedication to citizens of the Cherokee Nation and of Oklahoma.” The tribe often assists community organizations that benefit Cherokee citizens and other residents living in the boundaries of the Cherokee Nation. This incorporates the tribe’s mission of “ga-du-gi,” which is a Cherokee word for the concept of “working together.” For information on the Cherokee Nation and its activities, visit the CNO web site. |
