TAHLEQUAH, OKLAHOMA – The Cherokee Nation recently joined with
several community leaders in the opening of the tribe’s new offices
for Cherokee Nation Home Health Services, Inc. (CNHHS).
“This is a program that provides a great service to the people,” said
Chad Smith, Principal Chief of the Cherokee Nation. “The staff is to be
commended for the work they do in their service to others.”
CCHHS is a tribal, nonprofit corporation organized for the purpose of
providing home health services. It is Medicare and Medicaid certified
to provide state-licensed home health care to not only Native Americans,
but to the public in general.
The organization provides life-enhancing home and community-based
health services with compassion and integrity to those in need of
home medical assistance. Service areas include counties within the
jurisdictional boundaries of the Cherokee Nation.
CNHHS is divided into three categories: home health, health outreach
and hospice care. Home health services include physical and occupational
therapy, speech pathology, medical social services and some medical
supplies. Health outreach services include personal care aides, homemaker
chores, skilled care and some medications. Hospice care provides care
for terminally ill patients and their families.
“This new facility is a way we can reintroduce ourselves and what
we have to offer to the community,” said Rick Richards, Chief
Executive Officer of CNHHS. “It’s a time of renewal for us as
agency staff.”
