TAHLEQUAH, OKLAHOMA – The Cherokee Nation is seeking arts and crafts and concession vendors for the 54th Annual Cherokee National Holiday held in Tahlequah over Labor Day weekend.
This year’s theme “The Cherokee Nation in Full Force and Effect,” commemorates the Act of 1906. It was this act that provided that the tribal constitutional governments of the Five Tribes should continue “in full force and effect,” thus ensuring continuing tribal sovereignty.
Approximately 90,000 visitors are expected to the Tahlequah area for the event, which has grown into one of the largest events in Oklahoma.
According to Holiday coordinator, Lou Slagle, there is always a need for vendors.
“There’s a real push to find enough concession vendors,” said Slagle. “We have activities at the Cherokee Nation Tribal Complex, the Cherokee Nation Capitol Square, the pow-wow and the ball fields.”
