The camps are free and open to both boys and girls ages 9-12 who reside in the 14-county jurisdictional boundary of the Cherokee Nation.
“Activities will include certain events such as daily swimming, traditional games such as marbles and stickball, horseback riding, canoeing and rock climbing,” said Bunner Gray, public health educator for Healthy Nation. “They will also learn about diabetes, nutrition, the importance of physical activity, and experience a variety of teambuilding games.”
For additional information or to request an application for the day camp, contact the Healthy Nation office at the AMO Salina Community Health Center, the Redbird Smith Health Center in Sallisaw, or Cherokee Nation Healthy Nation office in Tahlequah.
