Computer Class Offered in Sallisaw

TAHLEQUAH, OKLAHOMA – Officials with the Cherokee Nation Mobil Learning Unit will be in Sallisaw from Monday, March 27, through Friday, March 31, to offer a free course entitled “Help! I’ve never used a computer before.”

The mobile unit will be parked at the Cherokee Nation Career Services office at 1504 W. Chickasaw. Class will begin at 10 a.m. and end at 3 p.m. every day. Students will receive a textbook for reference, and it will be theirs to keep.

This class is designed for those who have no previous experience with computers. Instructors will discuss hardware and working with Microsoft Windows and will include an overview of Paint, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access software.

Youth Fitness Day Camp Offered

JAY, OKLAHOMA - Cherokee Nation will host a free three day fitness camp during spring break.

The Sam Hider Jay Community Clinic will be hosting a youth day camp from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Wednesday, March 15, through Friday March 17, at the Jay Community Building.

“We will be focusing on four main topics which include physical activity, nutrition, diabetes and tobacco,” said Ida Gray, public health educator for the Sam Hider Jay Community Clinic. “We will also focus on native heritage during the third day of camp, which will include marbles, stickball, archery and blowgun demonstrations.”

The camp is free and is open for all students third through fifth grade. Breakfast, two snacks and a lunch will be provided daily.
