TAHLEQUAH, OKLAHOMA – Cherokee Nation’s Natural Resources Department will cosponsor a “Women in Agriculture” conference in Stilwell on June 22 from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Adair County Fairgrounds. The conference’s theme is “Empowering Women in Agriculture,” and guest speakers and workshops will recognize the ever-expanding role that women are playing in today’s agriculture communities, especially within the Cherokee Nation’s 14-county jurisdiction.

The conference will emphasize the management skills needed to make informed business and family decisions. The agenda includes sessions on freeze branding, accessible gardening, drug crime awareness, pest management and several panel discussions. Agriculture program specialists will present several sessions and also be available to speak with attendees.

Lunch is included in the reservation fee, and door prizes and a grand prize will be given. Free water testing will also be available. For water testing, bring one quart of water (the first drawn water of the day) in a glass container. Informational booths will be also available.

Seating for the conference is limited, and reservations are required. A preregistration fee of $5 is due by June 9. For additional information or to preregister, contact Nancy Arnett at Okla. Cooperative Extension Service, 200 W.
