TAHLEQUAH, OKLAHOMA - The Native Tee Junior Golf Program is back in the swing of things this summer. The free program offers kids ages 6 to 17, with proof of Cherokee citizenship, the opportunity to learn about golf while playing the beautiful Cherokee Trails Golf Course in Tahlequah.Participants get free professional instruction and the opportunity to play rounds of golf. The instructional sessions will be held every Tuesday from now to August 1, with the exception of the July 4 holiday. There will be two sessions each morning and juniors must register in advance. Loaner clubs are provided for those without their own set.
Class members also have the opportunity to participate in the free Summer Play Days, which are every Monday from now to August 14, with the exception of the July 4 holiday. Juniors must sign-up in advance for tee times, and golfers between 6 and 12 years old must be accompanied by an adult.
To enroll in Summer Play Days or the Native Tee Junior Golf Program, participants must provide proof of Cherokee citizenship. To register, please call the Cherokee Trails pro golf shop at (918) 458-4294. Registration is ongoing.
