OKLAHOMA CITY – The 11th annual conference of the Inter-Tribal Environmental Council (ITEC), co-sponsored by the Cherokee Nation, will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday, June 20-21, at the Sheraton Oklahoma City Hotel in downtown Oklahoma City. This year’s conference, titled “Community Environmental Stewardship for the Future,” will give tribal representatives and environmental professionals the opportunity to view products and training materials to enhance environmental programs. The Cherokee Nation serves as the lead agent for ITEC, and coordinates the annual conferences.
“The Cherokee Nation has a centuries-old history of being a good steward of the environment,” said Cherokee Nation Principal Chief Chad Smith. “These conferences allow us to work with other tribal governments to help protect our natural resources.”
Early registration for the conference will be held from 3 p.m. -6 p.m. on Monday, June 19. There is no registration fee required for tribes, government entities and nonprofit organizations. A registration fee of $50 is required for all individuals representing for-profit organizations not registered as exhibitors.
