TAHLEQUAH, OKLAHOMA – The deadline for voting for this year’s eighth annual Native American Music (NAMMY) Awards will be Wednesday, June 7. The Cherokee National Youth Choir is a finalist in two categories in this year’s NAMMY competition, the Best Gospel/Christian/Inspirational Recording and Duo/Group of the Year. Awards will be announced at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Florida, on Thursday, June 8.

The choir won the NAMMY for Best Gospel Album of the Year in 2002 at the organization’s fifth annual awards ceremonies. The choir performed a medley of selections form the from the award-winning CD, "Voices of the Creator's Children," which was recorded with Cherokee singer and two-time Grammy award winner Rita Coolidge, a past winner of the NAMMY’s Lifetime Achievement Award.
