NOWATA, OKLAHOMA – Steel beams are now up and construction is well under way for the new Cherokee Nation Nowata Health Care Center. The new health care center will still offer the same services as the current Nowata clinic as well as a new radiology department, a drive-up pharmacy and behavioral health services.

“This, along with our expansion project in Sallisaw, will offer quality care with easy accessibility in the northern and southern areas of our Nation,” said Cherokee Nation Principal Chief Chad Smith. “It's something we have been planning since the completion of our long range plan health plan in 2001.”
Myron Taylor, Senior Director for the Nowata Primary Health Clinic, said now was the time to expand to a space that will allow for an increase in the number of patients the clinic can serve.
“Services that we send our patients out to local health care providers to receive, will now be performed in house,” said Taylor. “This will save the clinic and the patient significant time and expense.”
The new 25,000 square foot facility is set to be completed by March of 2007. Cherokee Nation operates six primary care health facilities and two satellite clinics within the 14-county jurisdictional areas.
