KANSAS, OKLAHOMA - The Cherokee Nation Women, Infants and Children (WIC) program is moving locations.As of January 17th the Kansas office will re-locate from the Oaks Delaware County Boys and Girls Club to the junction of 412 and Highway 59 in Kansas, directly behind the Okie-Dokie Store.
WIC provides nutrition education and vouchers for supplemental foods to infants, children under 5 years of age, and pregnant, postpartum, and breastfeeding women.
“We have about 6500 people participating in the WIC program,” said Pamella Wedding, nutrition education coordinator for Cherokee Nation WIC. “Statistics show that women who partake in the WIC program have better pregnancy outcomes and anemia rates of children on the WIC program are lower than those who do not participate in the program.”
To be eligible for the program, individuals must meet financial income requirements, residency requirements, have proper identification and be at nutritional risk.
Office hours will be Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday of each week from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. For more information on WIC at this location, call 918-868-2010.
