TAHLEQUAH, OKLAHOMA – The Cherokee Nation announces a call for all Cherokee citizens who are currently active in the military and those who have served our country in the past from all branches of service.

Honorees will be invited to attend a monthly Tribal Council meeting at which time they will be officially honored for their service to the country.

The program was started last summer by Deputy Chief Joe Grayson in an effort to honor one active service individual and one veteran each month at the Tribal Council meeting. Veterans of WWII will be recognized first, and honorees will proceed through time to the most recent service.
