TAHLEQUAH, OKLAHOMA – The Cherokee Nation will be hosting a job fair on Thursday, December 7 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the W.W. Keeler Complex located south of Tahlequah. The job fair will offer information on all Cherokee Nation entities, including the tribal government, Cherokee Nation Enterprises, Cherokee Nation Industries, the Housing Authority of the Cherokee Nation and Cherokee Nation health care businesses.

A major goal of the Cherokee Nation is to provide adequate employment opportunities for Cherokee citizens and our Oklahoma neighbors seeking to enhance their financial stability.

“The Cherokee Nation will continue to bring jobs to our Cherokee communities, so our people can stay home, raise families and give back to other Cherokees. A family that is self-supporting is an asset to any community, and we will continue to provide opportunities for Cherokee families to be self-supporting,” said Chad Smith, Principal Chief of the Cherokee Nation.

Smith signed a proclamation declaring Thursday, December 7, 2006, as Job Fair Day in the Cherokee Nation.

The Job Fair will also include a workshop on interviewing with the Cherokee Nation as well as the tribe’s benefit package, which is considered among the best in Oklahoma. This workshop is one in a series of three workshops that are scheduled in the upcoming year.

Currently, there are several positions available in all of the Cherokee Nation’s entities. Cherokee Nation citizens, other Native Americans and all interested parties are encouraged to attend and apply for positions.
