TULSA, OKLAHOMA - Poker lovers can sharpen their skills and make Christmas brighter for local children as they vie for big bucks at the Angel Tree Poker Tournament at Cherokee Casino Resort. The No Limit Texas Hold’em tournament, taking place Dec. 9, will raise money for Catoosa Public Schools’ Angel Tree. In addition to the 1,000 tournament chips that come with the $55 buy-in, an optional $15 donation to the Angel Tree buys an extra 2,000 starting chips.

“Positive involvement is critical to the community,” said David Stewart, CEO of Cherokee Nation Enterprises, which operates Cherokee Casinos. “This tournament should really boost Catoosa Public Schools’ Angel Tree program, as well as the whole community. We’re proud CNE could help.”

The victor of the Angel Tree Poker Tournament will receive a “Luxury Poker Weekend” at Cherokee Casino Resort. This weekend getaway package includes an exclusive dinner with poker legend Scotty Nguyen at McGill’s, a one night stay in a posh Vegas King Suite, a round of golf for two at Cherokee Hills Golf Club, a private poker game for the winner and friends, breakfast for two at the Wild Potato Buffet and a $550 buy-in to the Oklahoma State Championship No Limit Hold’em Tournament in February.

Winning this prize package won’t be an easy feat, however. Not only will the competitors be some of Cherokee Casino’s most talented regular players, but casino employees and local media personalities will also be playing with a “bounty” on their heads to help raise the stakes. Bounty prizes range from a free night stay at Cherokee Casino Resort’s luxury hotel to dinner for two at McGill’s and buy-ins for Cherokee Casino’s poker tournaments.

The skilled competitors that manage to knock the bounty holders out of the tournament will receive the first-class prizes assigned to the eliminated players. The challenge still doesn’t stop there, as the last player standing will have to go head to head against CEO David Stewart for the Luxury Poker Weekend.

“Poker players will match wits with these talented bounties, who just happen to be some of the best players in the local media and some of our very own poker aficionados here at Cherokee Casino,” Stewart said.

Registration for the Angel Tree Poker Tournament takes place Dec. 9 at Cherokee Casino Resort at 10 a.m. The tournament starts at 2 p.m. For more information please call 800-760-6700.
