TAHLEQUAH, OKLAHOMA – A seminar for farmers, ranchers and poultry producers on “Managing Cattle and Drought” will be cosponsored by the Cherokee Nation Department of Natural Resources on Tuesday, August 29, in the Cherokee County Community Building, located at 300 West First Street in Tahlequah.The seminar begins at 5:30 p.m., and from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. the topic will be “Changes to Nutrient- Limited Watersheds (Poultry).” An overview of U.S.D.A. programs will be offered from 7 to 7:30 p.m., and a session titled “Feeding and Marketing Cattle during Drought” will be offered from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Poultry producers will earn three credits for attending this seminar. Guest speakers are faculty members of Oklahoma State University’s Animal Science Department.
A free barbeque dinner will be offered to participants and catered by Fish’s Bar-B-Que Restaurant from 6:30 to 7:00 p.m.
Additional sponsors of this seminar are the U.S.D.A. and OSU’s Animal Science Department. Jim Reese, state executive director, and Buck LeGrand, outreach coordinator, of the Oklahoma Farm Service Agency; and Mark Habiger, assistant state conservationist for the Oklahoma Natural Resources Conservation Service, will also be in attendance.
