TAHELQUAH, OKLAHOMA – The excitement of Disney game shows and entertainment are scheduled to be part of this year’s Cherokee National Holiday.
“A Family Game Show” will be offered to parents and children for a chance to win prizes from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. under the Radio Disney tent located west of the Cherokee Nation complex.
“We decided to invite Radio Disney to the Cherokee National Holiday to help encourage physical activity in not only children, but the family as a whole,” said Shannon Fields, project specialist for Steps to a Healthier Cherokee Nation.
The Steps to a Healthier U.S. program funds states, cities, and tribal entities to implement chronic disease prevention efforts focused on reducing the burden of diabetes, overweight, obesity, and asthma and addressing three related risk factors: physical inactivity, poor nutrition, and tobacco use.
“We hope through Radio Disney, AM 1380, we can encourage families to start taking the ‘Steps’ to be healthy,” Fields said. “RD Frequency, a group of young Radio Disney music performers, will also be on hand to entertain the crowd.”
The Family Game Show will be offered free to the public during the National Holiday.
