CHC Announces New Executive Director

PARK HILL, OKLAHOMA – Carey Tilley has been named the new Executive Director of the Cherokee Heritage Center.

Tilley come to the Center from Rome, Georgia, where he was the Executive Director of the Chieftains Museum and historic home of Cherokee leader Major Ridge. Tilley has a Master of Arts degree in Public History and American History from State University of West Georgia and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Anthropology and History where he graduated Magna cum Laude from West Georgia College. He also has experience in teaching, archeology, and has published papers, articles and reports on Cherokee history.

Carey and his wife, Robin, are the parents of four children, Sarah 12, Mary Elizabeth 5, Jacob 2 and Rebecca 2.

The Cherokee Heritage Center is devoted to the preservation and promotion of Cherokee history and culture. The center is home to the Ancient Village, Adams Corner Rural Village, NoFire Farms, Trail of Tears Exhibition, Cherokee National Museum, Cherokee Family Research Center, Ho-Chee-Nee Chapel, and the Tsa La Gi Amphitheater, which was named one of America’s most beautiful outdoor theater venues.
