SALLISAW, OKLAHOMA – The Cherokee Nation will be conducting a two-mile fun run/walk in conjunction with the upcoming Sallisaw Diamond Daze Festival, scheduled for early May.According to Mary Owl, healthy nation educator for the Cherokee Nation’s Redbird Smith Health Center, the invitational run will take place on Saturday, May 6, at the Carl Albert State College (CASC) parking lot with the route going up to Indian Capitol Technology Center and back to CASC. Each runner will receive a t-shirt, refreshments and fitness literature at the event.
There is no cost to participate, however participants that pre-register will be guaranteed a shirt. Participants can register at the Sallisaw Chamber of Commerce or at the Cherokee Nation’s Redbird Smith Health Center. On site registration will also be available on the day of the run beginning at 8 a.m. The run/walk will begin at 8:30 a.m.
