SALLISAW, OKLAHOMA - Sequoyah Memorial Hospital and Cherokee Nation Redbird Smith Health Center of Sallisaw will be co-sponsoring a Men's Health Fair on Friday, September 30.

"We have invited several health related vendors to set up booths to provide information, and educational material on a variety of health issues," said Buddy Holt, special projects officer for the Redbird Smith Health Center. "We will have representatives from the American Cancer Society, Cherokee Nation Healthy Nations program, and several others, along with pharmaceutical representatives who will have informational booths as well."

The Men's Health Fair will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Patients of Sequoyah Memorial Hospital can go to 213 East Redwood and Redbird Smith Health Center patients will find the same health fair activities at 301 South J.T. Stites Street.

"The Health Fair will be open to all men in Sequoyah County and is absolutely free. Statistics tell us that most men are very reluctant about going in to see their primary physician for important annual health check ups; therefore, the Men's Health Fair is being planned to give them the opportunity to come in and get these health checks and exams done at no charge. All participants will get a blood pressure check, a blood sugar check, a cholesterol check, a prostate PSA test, and a health exam," Holt said.

A free luncheon is also planned for the first 60 health fair participants who register for the Health Fair with Dr. Raji Gill, D.O. and Urologist, serving as guest speaker.

The luncheon is being sponsored by Clif's Pharmacy of Sallisaw, Green Country Drug of Gore, Johnny's Hometown Pharmacy of Roland, Muldrow Pharmacy, Roland Pharmacy, Sallisaw Pharmacy and Vian Pharmacy. Fiserv Health will be sponsoring the keynote speaker who will address men's health issues.

"During the luncheon, we will recognize all of our participating Sequoyah County physicians who are donating their valuable time and services to make the Sequoyah County Men's Health Fair possible," Holt said.
