TAHLEQUAH, OKLAHOMA – The Cherokee Nation’s newest living treasure, artist Jane Osti, is having a winning year all-round. Osti, of Tahlequah, received the Living Treasure designation at the Cherokee Nation's 2005 annual holiday celebration and is now the grand prize recipient of the Cherokee Heritage Center’s 10th Annual Cherokee Homecoming Art Show for her contemporary pottery entitled "Arkansas Appliqué."

Winners of the Tenth Annual Cherokee Homecoming Art Show and Sale were announced at a 12 p.m. awards ceremony on Saturday, Oct. 8, at the Cherokee Heritage Center. Sponsored by Cherokee Nation Enterprises, the Oklahoma Arts Council and the National Endowment for the Arts, 49 artists from across the nation competed in various categories for more than $5,000 in cash awards.
"I would like to thank the Cherokee Heritage Center for this award, and I appreciate their support of Cherokee artists," said Jane Osti, Cherokee Nation Living Treasure. "The Cherokee Homecoming Art Show is a good show, and I am pleased that some of my traditional pottery students also received awards and made sales. The Heritage Center provides a wonderful opportunity to encourage new artists and to share our art and culture with others."
First prize was given in each division as well as a Grand Prize award. In addition to these awards, five Judge’s Choice Awards and 15 Honorable Mention’s were given. This year’s Grand Prize winner is Jane Osti for her contemporary pot "Arkansas Appliqué."
Divisions and categories for the show include: Traditional Division - Traditional Basketry, Jewelry and Beading, Traditional Pottery, and Traditional Arts; Contemporary Division – Visual Arts (Painting and Graphics), Contemporary Sculpture, Contemporary Pottery, Contemporary Basketry and Textiles.
