TAHLEQUAH, OKLAHOMA – The Cherokee Nation recently held the annual Cherokee Language Bowl on the campus of Northeastern State University in Tahlequah. A total of 92 teams participated in this year’s competition.

Division I (grades K-2) winners were: first place - the Cherokee Nation Language Immersion Little Cherokees, second place – Belfonte Panther Cubs, and third place – Gore A-wi (Deer).

Division II (grades 3-5) winners were: first place – Pryor CIA (Cherokees In Action), second place – Osage (Mayes County) Eagles, and third place – Maryetta Strawberry Turtles and Belfonte Panthers (tie).

Division III (grades 6-8) had a three-way tie for first place between the Osage Cherokee People, Grove Redhawk, and the Gore Red Birds.

Division IV (grades 9-12) winners were: first place – Tahlequah Sequoyah “A-ni Da-ki-si,” second place – Grove “Sk-a-s-ti Yv-wi”, and third place – Gore GWY and Salina Cherokee Cats (tie).
