TAHLEQUAH, OKLAHOMA The Cherokee Nation recently held the annual Cherokee Language Bowl on the campus of Northeastern State University in Tahlequah. A total of 92 teams participated in this years competition.Division I (grades K-2) winners were: first place - the Cherokee Nation Language Immersion Little Cherokees, second place Belfonte Panther Cubs, and third place Gore A-wi (Deer).
Division II (grades 3-5) winners were: first place Pryor CIA (Cherokees In Action), second place Osage (Mayes County) Eagles, and third place Maryetta Strawberry Turtles and Belfonte Panthers (tie).
Division III (grades 6-8) had a three-way tie for first place between the Osage Cherokee People, Grove Redhawk, and the Gore Red Birds.
Division IV (grades 9-12) winners were: first place Tahlequah Sequoyah A-ni Da-ki-si, second place Grove Sk-a-s-ti Yv-wi, and third place Gore GWY and Salina Cherokee Cats (tie).
