TAHLEQUAH, OKLAHOMA - The Sequoyah High School (SHS) boys and girls cross-country teams both recently won state championship titles, an honor the boys team has won eight times now and the girls team has won twice. The teams will celebrate with a victory pow wow on Wednesday, November 9 at 5:30 p.m.

"These runners spend a lot of time training both mentally and physically," said Gina Stanley, SHS superintendent. "They deserve this title and we are very proud of them for adding another state championship to Sequoyah’s record."
The victory pow wow will be held in the SHS gymnasium and will begin with dinner at 5:30 p.m. followed by dancing at 7 p.m. Rogan Noble will serve as the master of ceremonies at the event and members of the SHS Honoring Our People’s Existence (H.O.P.E.) Club will lead the dancing.
Members of the SHS state champion cross-country ream who qualified for All-State honors are Ryan Doyeto, Bryan Vann, Kasper Holmes, Lee Chouteau (honorable mention), Sara Holcomb, Ashley Ross, Sade Horsechief (honorable mention), and Alisa Riddle (honorable mention). Other members of the team are Jamie Loy, Brandi Walker, Cartahyah Brown, Wes Nofire, Travis Wickliffe and Kolton Holmes.
