STILWELL, OK - The Cherokee Nation Landfill recently accepted more than 211 tons of trash at no charge in a continued effort to make Adair County a cleaner place."The (Cherokee Nation) Landfill has supported and been a participant in clean-up events for over 20 years by providing an annual "free" day," said Doug Bane, manager of the Cherokee Nation Landfill.
During this "free" day, the Cherokee Nation donates manpower and equipment to assist with the disposal of trash and debris that is collected in the area and waves fees associated with the cost of disposing of these items.
The annual clean-up event in Adair County is a collaborative effort between many organizations in including the Adair County Commissioners, Sue’s Recycling and Sanitation and the Cherokee Nation Landfill.
"This event is only possible through the efforts of many people working together for the common good," Bane said. "It would be impossible for one person or group to accomplish so much working alone."
