NORMAN, OKLAHOMA - Registrations are being accepted for the Third Annual Oklahoma Native American Youth Language Fair, scheduled April 4, 2005, at the Sam Noble Oklahoma Museum of Natural History at the University of Oklahoma.

Students of American Indian languages from preschool to high school age will demonstrate their language skills with presentations of skits, stories, poetry, drama, song and dance.

In addition to live performances, a poster contest will be held on the language-related theme of storytelling. Other competitions include a book and literature contest and a film/video/multi-media contest open to American Indian language students in the third through 12th grades.

High school students can submit an essay on the importance of their native languages.

The statewide competition usually draws more than 350 participants.
