STILWELL, OKLAHOMA - The Cherokee Nation has a healthy alternative to kids spending spring break on the couch, in front of the television. In an effort to get kids moving, the Cherokee Nation is hosting a fitness day camp for children ages 9, 10 and 11 in Stilwell. The camp provides youth with the opportunity to learn and practice behaviors that promote a healthy lifestyle."A full week of activities is planned including nutrition education, diabetes prevention education, team building and Cherokee cultural activities," said Margie Burkhart, program coordinator.
Families will also be invited to attend a family skate night at the Rolling Wheels Skating Rink on March 17 from 7-9 p.m.
The camp will be held March 14 through March 18 from 7:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. There is no fee for the camp and breakfast, lunch and snacks will be provided daily. The camp will be held at Maryetta School.
