TAHLEQUAH, OKLAHOMA - In the last semester of the 2004-05 school year, 121 students from Sequoyah High School (SHS) made the Superintendents and Principals Honor Rolls."Academics always come first at Sequoyah High School," said Gina Stanley, Sequoyah High School superintendent. "We take steps to make sure that our students have the tools they need to prepare them for the next step in life."
The students who made the Superintendents Honor Roll, earning a 4.0 grade point average on a 4.0 scale were Bryan Allen, Maresa Beason, Anthony Beaver, Tabitha Bluebird, Kelly Brown, Melvin Calls-Him, Norma Carey, Christopher Chanate, Rachel Chouteau, Raelee Conrad, Savannah Coon, Devin Dry, Jatanna Feather, Dion Francis, Havana Gifford, Lorin Hammer, Sonny Hawk, Julie Hensley, Kace Hogner, Michael Holcomb, Kasper Holmes, Michael Hooper, Nancy James, Felicia Jones, Haley Larsen, Amanda Little, Bronson McNiel, Deena Nez, Chester Nofire, Jr., Diana Onco, Amanda Oosahwee, Christine Panther, Kellen Quinton, Robert Record, Derrick Ross, Lawrence Scraper, Randi Sequichie, Ryan Sierra, Feather Smith, Dena Squyres, Rebecca Steed, Rhiannon Tafoya, Jon Teehee, Tiffany Teehee, and Brandon Walker.

Sequoyah High School was originally founded in 1871 as an orphan asylum to care for the many orphans who came out of the Civil War. Since its origination, SHS has evolved to become one of the state’s finest educational institutions, educating more than 300 Native American students per year, representing more than 40 Native American tribes from across the country. Administered by the Cherokee Nation, SHS continues to strive to become the high school of choice for Native American students.
