TAHLEQUAH, OK - The Housing Authority of the Cherokee Nation (HACN) will open a new office in Collinsville, located at 1323 West Broadway Street, on Monday, January 10 . The Collinsville Office will replace the current office in Owasso and will serve Washington and northern Tulsa Counties.According to David Southerland, HACN executive director, the HACN office in Owasso will close Friday, January 7. Staff and operations will be transferred to the new Collinsville location in time to open Monday morning, January 10. Collinsville was selected as a more centralized location to serve this area.
"Its easier access for everybody," said Buel Anglen, Cherokee Nation Tribal Council member, representing Tulsa and Washington Counties.
The HACN has strategically planned its’ office locations to better serve the Cherokee citizens within the 14-county Cherokee Nation jurisdictional boundaries. As a result, HACN will have a total of 18 offices throughout the 14-county area.
"The main goal to be achieved with 18 offices, is better accessibility to the Housing Authority’s programs and services and to be able to assist applicants with all aspects of housing from application to move-in," Southerland said .
