TAHLEQUAH, OKLAHOMA - The Cherokee National Youth Choir was recently nominated for one of the most prestigious Native American music awards, the NAMMY. The Choir was nominated for best Gospel/Christian recording for their album, Jesus Is Born Today. In order to bring home a third NAMMY award, the Cherokee National Youth Choir needs the public’s support.

"The kids worked hard on this album," said Kathy Sierra, assistant choir director. "We are happy that their hard work is being acknowledged and are very proud of their accomplishment. Now, we just need everyone to continue to support us and vote for us."

Award winners are determined by mail-in ballots and through a public voting campaign. Friends, family and fans can vote for the Cherokee National Youth Choir by logging onto www.nammys.com.

The Cherokee National Youth Choir has previously earned two NAMMY awards and three NAMMY nominations. The Cherokee National Youth Choir is made up of 50 Cherokee youth from various communities throughout the Cherokee Nation. They have released three albums and performed at Ground Zero in New York City, Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tenn., and in front of President George Bush in Washington D.C.

Visit the Native American Music Awards (NAMMYs) web site and cast your vote! NAMMY winners will be announced at the Seventh Annual Native American Music Awards ceremony, Thursday, February 10, 2005 at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Florida.
