STILWELL, OKLAHOMA - Cherokee Nation Industries (CNI) recently received recognition for outstanding work on aircraft components. The Boeing Company, Southwest Manufacturing and Naval Air Systems Command recently traveled to Stilwell, Okla., to present Cherokee Nation Industries with a letter of recognition for a job well-done.

"Your tireless efforts and superior workmanship helped to increase system availability and ensured the Navy met critical fleet requirements for upgraded communications capability," said S.R. Eastburg, United States Navy Captain. "Thank you and well done."

"It's a fact that a lot of technically demanding work and dedication from CNI employees went into making this program a success," said Wayne Stockton, director of programs management at CNI. "It feels great when our people get that deserved recognition and validation from our customer."

Ron Oblen, with Naval Air Systems Command, gave a presentation explaining how and where the components CNI manufactured were used to upgrade the S-3 aircraft. The S-3 is mainly used for reconnaissance surveillance and to refuel other planes. Oblen told the audience that this type of plane continues to contribute to our successes in Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom.

CNI is a tribally owned corporation of the Cherokee Nation headquartered in Stilwell, Oklahoma. It is comprised of distribution, medical personnel services and telecommunications divisions and a cable and wire harness manufacturing facility. CNI was incorporated in 1969 to serve as the economic and workforce development arm for the tribe. The company has 365 employees worldwide and over 30 years contracting and distribution experience in the aerospace, defense and telecommunications industry.
