TAHLEQUAH, OK - Two newly appointed commissioners, Kenneth Limore and Steven Crittenden, were recently sworn in during a regular meeting of the Housing Authority of the Cherokee Nation (HACN) Board of Commissioners. They were sworn in by Wayne Dunham, chairman of the board.

Both Limore and Crittenden were appointed by Cherokee Nation Principal Chief Chad Smith and approved by the Cherokee Nation Tribal Council to serve three-year terms as members of the HACN Board of Commissioners.
The HACN Board of Commissioners elected Limore to serve as secretary.
Limore holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Northeastern State University (NSU), Master's of Education in Administration from NSU, a Standard School Superintendent Certification from Tulsa University and a Juris Doctorate from the University of Iowa. Limore is also admitted to practice law in the Western, Eastern and Northern Districts of Oklahoma and United States Court of Appeals for the 10th Circuit. He is a member the National Indian Impacted Schools Association, National Association of Federal Impacted Schools, Adair County and Oklahoma Bar Associations. Presently, he is the superintendent for Kenwood School.
"I want our housing services to continue and to serve tribal citizens in need," said Kenneth Limore, secretary, HACN Board of Commissioners.
New board member Steven Crittenden holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Business Management from Northeastern State University and a Juris Doctorate from the University of Oklahoma. He is a member of the Oklahoma County, Tulsa County and Oklahoma Bar Associations and the Oklahoma Association of Defense Counsel. Crittenden is also admitted to practice law in the Western, Eastern and Northern Districts of Oklahoma and United States Court of Appeals for the 10th Circuit.
Crittenden has served in various capacities with the National Indian Law Students Association and American Indian Law Review. He is presently employed with Allstate Insurance Company.
"I went to school using Cherokee Nation grants and scholarships, and I have also wanted to give back my time and service to the Cherokee Nation," stated Steven Crittenden, member, HACN Board of Commissioners.
"I would like to see housing services continue and identify those that need help and see that they get it, as well as, raising the standard of housing," said Crittenden. "Secondly, I would like for more Cherokees to move toward self sufficiency."
The board of commissioners and David Southerland, executive director, welcomed Limore and Crittenden.
"I look forward to working with Mr. Limore and Mr. Crittenden as new commissioners and believe they will bring expertise that will enrich the leadership of the board," said David Southerland, executive director of HACN.
Members of the HACN Board of Commissioners are Wayne Dunham, James Simmons, Kenneth Limore and Steven Crittenden.
The HACN Board of Commissioners meeting is open to the public and is scheduled every third Tuesday of each month at the HACN Alyene Hogner Administration Building, located at 1500 Hensley Drive, in Tahlequah.
