Opening of Cherokee Nation's One-Stop Business Center
TAHLEQUAH, OKLAHOMA – The Cherokee Nation recently joined with business leaders and community partners to celebrate the grand opening of the One-Stop Business Center at the Cherokee Nation Tribal Complex in Tahlequah.

The One-Stop Business Center offers technical assistance, business support, a resource center, and workshops to Indian certified businesses and those that wish to become certified.

“The Cherokee Nation wants to stimulate Native American entrepreneurship and encourage the use of these vendors in the business world,” said Cherokee Nation Principal Chief Chad Smith. “We want all Indian vendors to be competitive and work hard for our business needs and for business outside of Cherokee Nation.”

According to Cherokee Nation Bid Analyst Heather Overacker, the center will assist businesses to become certified, which in turn will provide them with more bid opportunities from the Cherokee Nation and its business entities.

“This center is here to help Indian certified businesses get more bids within the Cherokee Nation government and Cherokee entities,” said Overacker. “We are also here to help new Indian businesses become certified.”

All bid opportunities over $5,000 will be posted on the web site and updated daily, including bid announcements from the Cherokee Nation, Cherokee Nation Enterprises, Cherokee Nation Industries, Housing Authority of Cherokee Nation, and Cherokee Nation Home Health. The Cherokee Bid Internet site URL is http://www.cherokeebids.org.

The center offers many services, including technical assistance to develop business and marketing plans, trainings on business issues, financing options, a resource library, and workshops on topics such as pricing strategies, cash flow management, financial planning, government contracting, and how to investigate bid opportunities. Visitors will find computers, scanners, printers, Internet access and digital cameras available for use at the One-Stop Business Center.

The One-Stop Business Center is located south of Tahlequah in the Cherokee Nation Complex, in the Tsa La Gi annex. For more information about the business center please call, phone: 918-207-3939.
