TAHLEQUAH, OKLAHOMA - The Cherokee Nation will host a 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament for youth and adults on Friday, September 2 and Saturday, September 3 in conjunction with the 53rd annual Cherokee National Holiday celebration. The tournament is scheduled to be played at the Cherokee Nation basketball courts just east of the main tribal complex and located directly behind the Outpost convenience store, 3.5 miles south of Tahlequah on Highway 62.
"I am very excited about the tournament and hope for a big turn out of teams and competition," said Robin Stand, tournament coordinator.
Teams can register in the following divisions: 8 and under, 10 and under, 12 and under, 14 and under, 16 and under, 18 and under, and adult men’s and women’s.
"Players can choose to play in an age division older than the currently are, but may not play in an age division younger than their age," Stand said.
Teams are allowed to have a five man roster and four of the team members must have Certificate Degree of Indian Blood (CDIB) cards. Copies of CDIB cards should be submitted with their entry forms. The deadline for entry is August 26. Adult team registration fee is $50 and the youth team registration fee is $40. Prizes will be awarded to first, second, and third place in each division.
The entry forms and basketball regulations will be located on the Cherokee National Holiday events page of the Cherokee Nation web site.
