TAHLEQUAH, OKLAHOMA - Stephanie Chester, of Hulbert, has earned the state's top award for academics. The Oklahoma Foundation of Excellence recently named Chester one of Oklahoma's Academic All-State award winners for the 2004-05 school year.

"I was thrilled when I found out," Chester said. "This is one of those things that I absolutely wanted more than anything."
As an Oklahoma Academic All-State award winner, Chester will receive a $1,500 scholarship, medallion and a plaque to commemorate her achievement.
"She's one of our best students," said Todd Kimrey, superintendent of Hulbert Schools. "Not only on the academic side, but also on the personal side. She's a very bright student."
Chester is a tribal citizen of the Cherokee Nation and plans to attend Oklahoma State University and major in veterinary medicine.
While attending Hulbert High School, she has been involved in the National Honor Society, the Technology Students Association and the Native American Club. She has served as a volunteer for the American Red Cross, Los Dios Veterinary Clinic and the Cherokee Nation. She is the daughter of Tim and Jennie Chester, and Margaret and Tom Manchell.
