TAHLEQUAH, OKLAHOMA - Cherokee Nation urges all voters to become informed about the issues in the November 2 elections. The Cherokee Nation has examined the issues and considers two elections to be vitally important to our tribe’s future, The United States Senate Race and State Question 712.

Cherokee Nation Voter's Guide - Read responses from the various candidates on questions regarding the Cherokee Nation.

The Cherokee Nation stays out of partisan politics. There is a rare exception this November, because the Cherokee Nation has come under attack from U.S. Senate Candidate Tom Coburn. Coburn has called our treaties ‘primitive agreement’, our sovereignty ‘a joke’ and said the Cherokees ‘aren’t really Indians.’ It is our duty to make our citizens aware of candidates that are openly hostile to the Cherokee Nation. State Question 712

Vote YES for SQ 712, the Education and Jobs referendum. SQ 712 is a win-win deal for tribes and the state that gives an extra $71 million a year to education without raising taxes. It helps the economy in rural areas by helping Oklahoma’s horse industry.

Why do the overwhelming majority of Oklahoma’s tribes support 712?
