"There have been a lot of positive changes at Sequoyah over the last few years and Gina has been instrumental in that," said Chad Smith, Principal Chief of the Cherokee Nation. "She is an asset to the school, the community and the Cherokee Nation. We are pleased to have her as superintendent."
Stanley, of Rose, is a graduate of Oaks High School and Northeastern State University. She is a member of the Oklahoma Secondary Schools Activity Association (OSSAA) Constitutional committee and the Oklahoma Secondary Schools Principal Association. She has previously served as principal, assistant principal, teacher and coordinator of curriculum instruction and counseling at SHS.
"I look to further the school academically and develop leadership and enrichment programs," Stanley said. "I hope to continue on the path that we’re on. The future looks bright."
Enrollment at Sequoyah continues to rise while their academic and athletic programs have experienced tremendous success. ACT test scores are at an all-time high and the school is producing more college-bound seniors than ever before.
"Sequoyah has come a long way and the credit needs to go to the teachers and the staff," Stanley said. "Were getting national recognition for our school and it’s because of their hard work and dedication."
