LOCUST GROVE, OK - Cherokee children in tribal custody will have a brighter Christmas thanks to an annual fundraising booth at the Crafter's Village arts and crafts sale in early December."A wonderful new partnership has been formed," said Verna Bates, director of the Crafter's Village.
The Crafter's Village has agreed to donate booth space for the Cherokee Nation to use to hold a raffle to raise money to purchase Christmas gifts for children in tribal custody. The Cherokee Nation will be raffling items that are donated by the crafters in the Crafter's Village.
"Every little bit (of money) helps," said Hettie Charboneau, program manager for Cherokee Nation child welfare. "If we can help our children have a great Christmas, that's what it's all about."
The gifts will be presented to the children at their annual Christmas party.
"Any time we can make our children happier, we've done our job well," Charboneau said.
The Crafter's Village arts and crafts sale will be held December 4 from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. and December 5 from 12 p.m. until 5 p.m. at the Locust Grove Community Building located at 111 West Harrison Street.
