“With these awards, supervisors and fellow workers at Cherokee Nation nominate someone they feel deserves this recognition,” said Randy Gibson, executive director for the Tahlequah Chamber of Commerce. “Our board then gathers these nominations and votes on someone to take this award. This is a way for the community to say thanks for doing a great job with the services you perform.”
Murphy has been a paramedic with Cherokee Nation EMS for two years.
“I am honored to get this award and to be serving the Cherokee people,” Murphy said.
“Kyle, like many of our other staff, has done an outstanding job with EMS,” said Martin Webb, ambulance supervisor for Cherokee Nation EMS. “It is just unfortunate that we can only recognize one paramedic.”
Cherokee Nation paramedic Julie Scott was the recipient of this same award in 2003.
