TAHLEQUAH, OKLAHOMA - The Cherokee Nation will host a traditional Native American games competition in Webbers Falls on Saturday, March 13 from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the Webbers Falls City Park."There are a lot of people who play the traditional Cherokee games and we would like them all to come out and have fun with us", said Louie Slagle, Cherokee National Holiday director.
The winners of each game will receive t-shirts and an invitation to compete in a community versus community competition during the 52nd annual Cherokee National Holiday in September.
"We will hold these community competitions in seven different communities throughout the year and hope all of the winners will join us in September for some good old-fashioned community rivalry", Slagle said.
Participants can compete in Cherokee marbles, horseshoes, stickball, cornstalk shoot and blowgun. There is no fee to enter.
Booth space will also be available for arts and crafts vendors to sell and display items. To reserve booth space, contact Slagle, phone: 918-456-0671 (ext.2544).
