"It’s not how we wanted the season to end, but these seniors have accomplished a lot", Larry Grigg, SHS basketball coach said. "They already have one state championship under their belt and they really gave the fans a good ride."
SHS appeared to be off to a good start when SHS junior Preston Moore scored six points in the first two and a half minutes of the game. His teammates quickly followed suit to hold the lead until the fourth quarter.
Sequoyah had a 7-point lead at half time with both Moore and Solomon Horsechief having scored 12 points each. Riverside closed the gap in the second half and outscored SHS in the last quarter to gain and hold the lead that would advance them to the next round of state tournament play.
"We’ve set a standard at Sequoyah and we have a great opportunity to be back again next year", Grigg said.
