SOUTH COFFEYVILLE, OKLAHOMA - The Cherokee Nation will host a traditional Native American Indian games competition in South Coffeyville on Saturday, July 10 from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the South Coffeyville community building.“There are a lot of people who play the traditional Cherokee games and we would like them all to come out and have fun with us,” said Louie Slagle, Cherokee National Holiday director.
The winners of each game will receive t-shirts and an invitation to compete in a community versus community competition during the 52nd annual Cherokee National Holiday in September.
“We will hold these community competitions in seven different communities throughout the year and hope all of the winners will join us in September for some good old-fashioned community rivalry,” Slagle said.
Participants can compete in Cherokee marbles, horseshoes, cornstalk shoot and blowgun. There is no fee to enter.
