The Cherokee Nation Marshal Service received a tip about a week ago that there was a possibility of illegal drug activity going on at the home.
The marshals drove by the house saw the marijuana plants. When they went to the door, the suspects started running through the house.
The marshals arrested Wadie Thirsty, age 41, who was in the home at the time. A young man who was also in the home at the time and a woman, who showed up at the house during the bust, may also face charges.
A trash heap behind the home was filled with debris and evidence that the home had served as a methamphetamine laboratory for some time. A nearby well-house housed unused chemicals for future meth manufacturing. Five marijuana plants were growing in the yard behind the home. The indoor laboratory was constructed on top of a bedroom dresser, only two feet away from a child’s toy box.
The Cherokee Nation Marshal Service estimates that they have busted 30 meth labs since last August. Anyone with information on illegal drug activity should contact the Cherokee Nation Marshal Service, phone: 866-456-9224. Callers can remain anonymous.
