TAHLEQUAH, OK - The Cherokee Nation will host an informative meeting for poultry producers and financial intuitions who make loans to the poultry industry on Monday, August 16 at 1 p.m. The meeting will be held at the Tahlequah Community Building."We encourage everyone even remotely involved in the business to attend this meeting,” said Steve Swogger, agriculture liaison with the Cherokee Nation. “We are going to discuss some very serious changes to state regulations. We want to let all our tribal citizens who are involved know where they stand. The meeting is open to everyone whether they are citizens of the Cherokee Nation or not.”
These changes have occurred as a result of the recent litigation over watershed issues in Oklahoma.
The meeting will consist of two separate sessions. The first session will be held from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. and will include topics that are geared towards financial institutions and attorneys who deal with poultry issues. The second session begins at 6 p.m. and lasts until 9 p.m. and is for poultry producers.
“We’ve got some great speakers who are very knowledgeable in this area,” Swogger said. “We should be able to address all of the issues that poultry producers and lenders may have.”
