CATOOSA, OKLAHOMA - The Cherokee Nation recently expanded employment services to the Catoosa area. The Cherokee Nation Career Services office, located at 250 South Cherokee in Catoosa, was established to assist Native Americans in finding employment and help with hiring staff for the expansion of the Cherokee Casino."We are beefing up services at this office because of the new casino," said Stephanie Sharp, manager of Cherokee Nation Careers Services. "We will work as a link between the public and CNE (Cherokee Nation Enterprises) and to help hire Native American workers for casino and hotel operations."
Cherokee Nation Enterprises (CNE) is in the process of constructing a state-of-the-art gaming facility and a 150-room hotel in Catoosa. The expansion will create approximately 400 additional jobs. CNE would like to have all 400 positions filled by May 2004.
CNE also plans to develop restaurants and additional family-oriented amenities and attractions on the site at I-44 and 193rd E. Avenue.
"We plan to continue our partnership between Cherokee Nation Career Services and CNE to assist with keeping those positions filled," Sharp said.
